Hey guys, sorry to keep nagging. Iv spent about £300 on materials trying to print a grey logo (attached) it seems to print the first part fine and then randomly fade lines appear… anyone know how to solve this? i got rid of the vertical lines , due to heat- making the material rise. Im printing on a Versacamm SP540i… iv gotta get the print done today so i can apply tomorrow!!!!:( not looking good!!!

    Just a quick geuss
if the lines are in line with the pinch rollers that could be the problem?

They could be pressure marks on the vinyl if you have left the roll on the rollers overnight. If they are evenly spaced its easy to check by checking on the rollers.

looks like the same problem as warren was having which i think is static related.

A sure-fire way to eliminate this is SLOW THE PRINTER DOWN.

I get that when doing huge banners at high speed – NEVER get it when running at a 32pass!

If it’s on an overnight print – who cares how long it takes.

Most likely static related. Unwind the roll as much as you can for the section being printed…gives it a chance to dissipate.

    32 pass on a banner?
so it takes all night using leccky, and far more ink than needed, are you sure you can compete Dave?

Nah NEVER done 32 on a banner!!!

    8 normally…

Vinyl print though – if I want stunning results – then print it overnight on a 32.

Extra ink – it cost buttons for bulk ink in terms of what I can print per litre. If I use a bit extra I don’t care. Considering what I toss in way of media (vinyl, banner, substrates) each day it really is pennies extra for the ink.

I wouldn’t run a 32 during the day and wait on it – poor time management, but as i said – overnight – who cares. As for extra electricity…printer would be running it day or night anyway – so can’t see the difference…and no lights ‘cos I’m not there.

As a side note – I often print my sub-contract / supplier digi-print overnight so it doesn’t interfere with my work.
