Agreed. I was using a Sawtooth PowerMac tower up until about a year and a half ago. That was with a G4 chip in it from around 1998 with 1 Gig of RAM installed! Although it was only noticeably a little slower than my newer G5 iMac with the same amount of RAM, I still was running about 13 apps open at one time. I only would bog down if I had a huge Photoshop or Illustrator file open. Macs usually have a very long user life span. Also if you have other programs already on the PC side that you bought or ones that will only run on a PC you can always install Windows on the Mac using BootCamp, VMWare or Parallels.

if you want a pc, the the spec below (made at the pc shop,) is the dogs wotsits,
my old laptop ( a damned good one) took about 20-30 seconds to fully open corel, this thing has it open in about 3 seconds!
complicated contours that might have really slowed the lappy down and taken 30 seconds, now take 1 or 2secs!
here’s a bit of a thread i posted the other day.
quote :well it’s been a while in the making, but i finally got it sorted..Having taken a lot of advice from Dave (thanks mr Rowlands), i gave the spec of the dell i was gonna buy, to the local computer shop, for whom i’ve just supplied a load of signage, the deal was that they’d match the dell deal, or better it with hardware, ultimately it took a lot longer to finalise the light box and flag they wanted (which was paying a big chunk of the pc) and the dell offers had finished, so it cot me a bit more, but hey, saved loads!
saw inside it at the pc workshop today, seems a shame to cover it all up!
for the technically minded among you, the spec is…
Gigabyte S series P35C-DS3R motherboard,
pentium Q6600 2.4ghz quad core processors,
4gig of ddr3 ram,
xp pro
samsung dvdrw with the burny image feature (i think i went with that one)
802.11g wireless,
Nvidea G-force 8500 GT video / graphics card,
monster cooling fans / heat sinks (hi spec, junked the originals)
samsung 22″ syncmaster tft/lcd screen (sharp as lemons!)
twin 250gb hard drives in mirror raid set-up.
all singing / dancing card reader,
etc etc etc !i just cannot believe how fast it is, i’ve just copied 65gb of music and corel files onto the hard drives, from a usb back up drive, and it’s only taken about 15 minutes , the laptop wasn’t slow, but that took 25 mins just to do the 25-30gig of mp3!
