what is it with customers at the moment? Doing my head in, even trying to get deposits for work agreed… #wankers :bangshead:

Thanks Rob, looks like the one I remember, it’s been really hard work chasing not just this customer but some I’ve done work for before, I’m angry and have taken this personally [emoji849] it’s enough money to make it worth going down the right route

It’s hard not to take it personally, but we’ve nearly ended up in hot water collecting debts.
We use a company called Judges Demand, who chase the debt before going the legal route. One off fee, which gives you access to credit reports, then to chase a debt they just apply 15% +VAT on the debt.

Thanks guys I did send an over the top email before I posted on here and amazingly the full amount has been paid, the tricky bit they need lots more vans doing and I won’t now offer them credit !

That’s the big dent on the pride that one.. cos if you don’t they might go somewhere else.. if you do it can end up being same game all over again.
Might be worth giving them a call and explaining and getting deposit on first two or something and then the rest at the agreed date.. miss the date it’s really is game over. I think that’s what I would do anyway. Of course if I got a crappy response on the phone and bad attitude then I’d pull the plug.

If they’ve been a good payer for a long time, and now suddenly they’re slowing payment, I agree stopping credit is the best course of action. It’s possible they’re struggling themselves.
Sure they can go elsewhere, but whoever they use will likely want cash up front. Is it worth the risk, the stress, the worry, only Richard can decide that.

I have used Thomas Higgins several times now. Recently one through court. They are very good at what they do, once they get judgement, they send in bailiffs. I literally had to click a couple of buttons each time. They charge for their letter before action, but get very good results from that generally.
