What do people use to cut their work from their plotter?

I have been using scissors, but it doesn’t give a neat finish. I don’t fancy running a blade against the machine itself to cut through.

I think this sort of knife could be useful, just wondered what people felt comfortable to use for one man operation.

Is there not a slot to run a knife along? What plotter have you?

I also have something like this that I picked up free at SignUk. It’s getting blunt now though 🙁 Wonder would that be a good excuse to go back over? 🙂

There are actually several slots which may have been added for that purpose :lol1: I just would rather not deface it.

Hopefully Sign UK will be giving away some of those Krispy Kreme doughnuts (hot)

Don’t know how you would deface the plotter using them Daniel. That’s what they are for, good sharp blade, no bother.

p.s. it’s not the doughnuts you have to worry about at SignUk!!! 😀

I use a snitty cutter or similar to cut from my plotter. Just feed off around 120mm after cutting and job done.

There’s a groove on nearly all plotters specifically for cutting in. Either with a ‘snitty’ or just a knife.

    It’s not really defacing – it’s using.

    Daniel

I know what you mean. I have a Summa D-60 that someone used a razor blade on and scratched up the surface.

Summa sends a Couppy Cutter with their D-60 but the previous owner didn’t use it.

Here is a link to the Couppy Cutter http://www.martor.comcouppy_43136.html

Mine even says Summa on it.

I usually get a couple of freebie cutters at Signuk …..I run them along a groove for a nice straight cut.

I suppose it really is function over form and scratches aren’t worth worrying about,, I’m just anal about that sort of thing. I’m that guy that when I take an electrical item out of the box I keep every plastic sleeve and padding incase I ever need to return it. I need to get a grip :lol1:
