I’m still in the dark ages unfortunately, I use a saftey ruler and a stanley knife. If you have the spare cash though, the electric guillotines certainly look to be the tool to have.
I know I sound like a stuck record here, but I’ve found that the Reynobond/Dibond signs are a good seller with regards to the safety signs. I had a sheet cut down for me so that I could just apply the vinyl and the sign was done. Bit of VHB tape of the back so that the customer can just stick them to the wall in seconds and they’re impressed as a donkey with an elephant-sized carrot! 😀 I know having the sheet cut down for me was kind of cheating, but I managed 20+ signs in under an hour! Cheating has never been as fun 😉

I’ll go along with that, let the supplier do the hard work.
…….Its a lot safer too!!!
I got issued with a lovely feeling free fingertip from my mate stanley last year when i sliced one of my fingertips almost clean off. (hot) Ouch!

If you’re doing alot of signs that are all the same size, its well worth it. I’ve saved so much time, but more importantly storage space! Its alot easier to store 100 or so small ally signs than it is to store all the sheet material. One of the other benefits I’ve found is that the cuts are always neat and tidy, where as if I’m rushing to get a job out, I can spend 20 minutes having to tidy up a edge when I cut it 🙁
I can reccommend the safety rulers (got mine from Cherwell Sign Supplies) if you’re considering doing it all by hand. I’ve slipped time and time again with the knife, but up to now, no serious injuries… unless you count the piece of foamboard that dropped on my head 😳 😳 I was testing some cheapo double-sided tape by sticking a piece of foamboard to my ceiling… needless to say, I now know why it was cheap! 😳

I’m a lucky chappie Nik 😀 Mine was made for me by the big man himself 😀 Have to admit, it suits me down to the ground… I never can keep my gob shut (anyone who’s ever been stuck on the phone to me for 4 hours will know 😉 😉 )
On the bright side, my telephone provider, both landline and mobile, really love me… they keep sending me love letters at the end of the month with huge numbers written in bold at the bottom 😀 Bizarrely, the exact same number is written on my bank statement as well… very strange 😕
