    Hi All,

I have a client who wants to replace an old sign. The frame is OK but the ali board they used is knackered.

What’s the best way to cut a curve shape in diabond.

It has to be a copy to fit the frame. I have the old sign as a template.

    Cheers

Jigsaw with a metal cutting blade (fine toothed). Protect the area to prevent the jigsaw scratching, though. If it’s going in a frame the cut doesn’t even need to be perfect, but if you want a perfect cut run some 3-in-1 oil or washing up liquid along the line before cutting. It lubricates and gives a perfect edge.

As Andy sais, although we don’t use any oil or anything. App tape is perfect for protecting it and also a ‘sure form’ is great for taking out any wonky bits!

Hmmm yes, the oil is a habit of mine since the days when I used to have to cut aluminium and Perspex lettering by hand! Probably overkill really.

if you have the original as a template, use a hand router & a small bearing
    straight bit.
