    Hi All,

I’m looking for some advice. I have an old FC4100-75 that I would like to get serviced on site. Contacted Graphtec directly,to be told that I would have to send the unit to them & expect it to be away for a week & a half!! I cannot afford to be without it for that length of time. Can anybody suggest a company in Scotland who would be able to provide a service contract on this machine?

    Thanks for any replys

    David

download and install the UKSB TOOLBAR, under the UK Suppliers tab go to
"printer & cutter breakdown support" theres a couple of technicians on there for the north.

It may well be that you won’t be able to get it serviced on-site in one visit as the number of spare parts that may or may not be required to ‘service it’ could be special order items that a technician simply won’t hold in stock.
You can’t expect them to hold say a new carriage for every out of production plotter out there…and cart it round in a van.

A basic ‘change the cutting strip & blow the dust out’ may be all that can be done until an assessment is completed.

Having sent a Graphtec (I think the same model) back to them in the past – yes – week and a half or thereabouts…but it came back working like a new machine.

i agree with Dave on this to the point that if the machine goes back to the factory, they tend to give it a good overhaul/service/clean. change any little bits showing wear and tear and so on because they have everything at hand.
the down side is the down time for you…

the flip side is the technician maybe there next morning. diagnose the problem and the part required ordered in for next day. "if" they cannot fix it there and then. in fairness to an onsite technician. they are aware you are paying them by the hour and you want "the actual problem" fixed and them back out the door as it is costing you money. rather than them service, clean the machine and throw in half a dozen parts they recommend you get soon.
