• Cutter problems

Posted by Richard Peirce on 8 March 2006 at 10:44

    Hello there,

I have started a new business (about 6 months ago) and have a query. I have a Summa Cut and Mutoh Rocky SDMP46. The problem is that I print out work (which could have more depth to the colour) but when I cut on the Summa, the cut lines are almost always off by 1mm or more sometimes. Its picking up on the Cut points, so why is this, can anyone help?

I don’t know about your model but I assume it has opos and there should be a routine for callibrating this ie distance from opos eye to blade – your manual should have this information (manual maybe on disk)

It does have OPOS, but the problem is that sometimes it will cut almost dead on where it should, other times its off. Haven’t found a solution in the manual to help.

Try dropping your cut speed and make sure the grit rollers & pinch wheels are clean.

Does it only do it on larger prints (area), if so, it may be the values from one machine to another don’t match. A Summa mm may not be equal to a Mutoh mm. (Percentage/tolerence error)
