A couple of quick questions on my Roland PNC-1210, I need a cutting strip and some new blades. Where are the best places to get these from? and what sort of prices am I looking at?
Either get on to Roland for the parts or get blades from Graphtyp, Victory or online.
For a DIY replacement strip I’ve used thin (1mm) PTFE or polyproplylene in the past (on an ancient Roland & a Graphtec) – cheap as anything and nice & hard wearing without knackering your blades with the first ‘oops’.
Most retailers sell blades at £15 to £25 each depending on the model…always handy to have a spare or two in stock….. some like Victory do a lot of 2 for 1 offers!!
Check the blade holder too. If it’s even the slightest bit tight / rough you could need one of those too. (Can show up as badly formed small text / missed corners.) Not a cheap consumable – I go through one every couple of years, but about £50 to £80 a pop….more for the full metal ones.
Check out the superb units from Edward Matthias & Co. You’ll find Harry has infinite knowledge about blades etc. He wil provide replacement holders with integral blades on an exchange basis. They cut better than the originals, last longer and are much cheaper.
