  • CutContour not showing in Versaworks (win7 64bit)

Posted by Stephen Morriss on 1 February 2012 at 12:46

I’ve installed Versaworks on a new computer with Win 7 64 bit OS and non of my jobs are showing the cutcontour, I can open them on my old computer and Versaworks shows the cut path no problem so it’s something in Versaworks.

Has anyone else had this problems or have any ideas.
Do I need to run Versaworks as Admin?
I had to install it as Admin before it worked, Everything else seems fine but obviously the Cut path is an important feature that I can’t get round.

    Regards
    Steve

    Hi Steve

We have 4 PC’s with the same OS and on two the contours are showing as ‘marching ants’ in the preview and on the other 2 they dont show at all. However, they all work whether or not they are showing? Strange

    Cheers

    Hi David, thanks for looking.

I’ve run Versaworks as Admin and reloaded the job and it showed the contour, I then closed and reopened Versaworks as the normal user and any jobs that load are now showing the contour. Weird (!)

What was of more concern was the A was missing in the "special items" line which made me think it’d not even imported it.

The current job is done now, I reloaded them and set them all out as before but only cut them and they matched the print done previously, just need to keep an eye on things for a while.

Also in the middle of all this Versaworks lost the printer and only found it again when I switched the printer off and on again to reset the Print server!

Stephen, have you checked to see if there is an update or patch that you need now you are running 64bit.

Versaworks check automatically every time it opens Martin, they do say on the website that there are some problems.
they’ll have to get their finger out though as A lot of people are moving over to 64bit, especially on design computers.

Might be worthwhile trying to run it in compatibility mode. If you haven’t done it before – right-click on the app menu item – select Properties – then Compatibility tab. You can select from a drop-down list which OS you want to run it as. Be interesting to hear if there is any change and if so what they are.

I did try compatibility mode originally when I was having problems after first installing it but installing as Admin sorted that, why I don’t know because the user is part of the admin group so should have the same access permissions as the admin.

It’s working for now so I’ll leave it be.

Can’t really help as I sorted it by installing Veraworks as admin, I’ve since found out that this is different than being part of the admin group.

    Sorry guys,

After reinstalling versaworks as admin, l updated it to ver4.6 online. I then opened Versaworks as the normal user and boom all is well. Thanks
    again anyway.
