  • Cut Vinyl or Digitally Printed??

    Hi All

I have attached an image of some signs that I have to make. These are all outdoors, and mounted on aluminium composite panels. They are not that big, the largest being 900mm x 900mm. Normally, I would use cut coloured vinyl and apply directly to white panel. However, for speed of construction, I could digitally print the whole sign as one image and apply.
My question is, do you think the printed (and laminated) version would last as well outdoors? Printed on a Roland with Eco-Sol inks.
    Any thoughts?

    Cheers

I would print and laminate…………far less work and hassle….cut vinyl is also appealing to kids if the panels are low so edges might get picked off.

Like John says printed & laminated would be far quicker & less hastle but you will not get the same life span from digitally printed that you will from a good quality calendered or cast vinyl.

For me it would come down to how long the customer is wanting them to last. Other thing is making sure you can match the colours they want if it is done with cut vinyl.

easier and quicker to print them and apply.
but, i prefer signs like this in cut vinyl and will outlast print life too.

Thankyou all for your advice. I have decide to go the ‘cut vinyl’ route, as longevity is probably an important factor in these signs.

(and my missus said not to be a lazy pr!ck and do them properly…) 😳
