  • Covering Van Graphics – Temporary

Posted by Mike Thornley on 12 September 2017 at 15:07

Had an enquiry to supply a substrate, possibly magnetic, to temporary cover van graphics on a long wheel base Merc.
The digital print is cut into the panels and they need to cover this when visiting a particular site.

We thought a magnetic substrate would work, but on testing the magnet is not strong enough to adhere to the van through the digital print.

Any ideas or is a super strong magnetic substrate available. (We didn’t sign write the van originally)
Finally no graphics or print is needed on the said substrate.

    Thanks

Interesting job. Cant see there being many options if magnetic doesnt work. How about just flooding the side with cheap short term vinyl. If its printed and laminated underneath, shouldnt cause any problems getting off.

Mag tape to a thin pvc sheet might be an option. The strength of mag tape is a lot stronger than magnetic sheeting. Cherwell signs do a 20mm mag tape or eBay has it for shorter lengths, but not cheap and not sure how well it would fare in prolonged wet conditions.

call bisbell magnets or anchor magnets. you should be able to buy a stronger strength panel on a roll from them.
