cost of edge head replacement
Posted by signdevil on 7 July 2005 at 12:46Anybody got any ideas on this? Is it just Spandex or are there others who do this kind of thing?
😕

As far as i know Spandex have the monopoly on the edge, I was quoted somewhere around £1400 for the head plus fitting – £75.00 call out + hourly rate. I did take a phone number of an independent engineer off of these boards, this was from 2-3 years ago, i never contacted him and know nothing about him, you could try giving him a call if he still exists and has the same number. Here tis me buck:

Cheers for the number, I’ll give it a shot. The price you state is about what I’m being quoted which is criminal 👿 The worst thing about the whole thing is that they’ll only guarantee it for 3 months from fitting regardless of use. Gee, thanks for that Spandex

The Edge repair is criminal. Power supplies is a common failure.
Any reason why you need a new head?

Persistent fine line in all prints. I have 2 edges, it has happened previously but the machine was in warranty so I was not billed.

Do you clean your head regularly with the stuff Spandex recommends or the head wipes you get with other foils?
If so, STOP IT! I have only ever cleaned it when it really needed it, i.e. shaky prints. I had the head replaced on mine last year, and i’ve had it 8 years. -
Yep, the head is cleaned many times each day with the head cleaning kits from Print One. Without doing that the quality just is not up to the job 🙁
