retarder is to stop the ink drying too quickly in the screen.

if you are having problems with it drying this will not help. imo.

id want to make sure the ink you are using is for correx and air drying first.

we print small lamppost signs made from correx and they dry to the touch in 1 hr, perhaps quicker in this weather. we leave over night to make sure as they can stick to the backside of each other if not fully cured.

as a guide we only add a little to thin the ink down a bit. say 5%

As Denise says, retarder slows down the drying process, so if the ink is drying in the
screen, it will help. However, if you wish to speed up the drying once they are printed,
    retarder will not help.

Is the ink suitable for printing onto correx?

I’d have thought your ink supplier would have advised you that retarder would do the opposite of what you require

assuming the ink is air drying you can accelerate the drying time by pushing warm air over the prints but you would have to check the data sheets to see whether it is safe to do so

If you are new to screen printing are you thinning the ink down too much initially ?

Hi Guys, thanks very much for the advice, afraid l didn’t explain things very clearly. it was having the ink drying in the screen that was my problem, but all sorted now, its amazing what 10% thinners and 5%retarder can do!!!! its also speeded up the process no end!! I’m a happy printer now, not a stressed one!! lol
