you cant… only in windows u can make it read only (properties of a file)
basically means you cant write to the file by accident, thats its only purpose

ok, so i can click on the file where i save it and make it read only? all i want to do is to be able to stop others potentially being able to remove the artwork.
cheers,
Hugh -
that sadly doesn’t do that
im thinking about saving things as a raster/bitmap within a PDF and password protect it (as talked about recently)

hugh
when you export to pdf you should get a settings tab on the save as panel
open it and then you can decide on security etc, you can prevent editinfg and printing permissions and also password protect (this is x3 btwcanr remember if it applied on previous versions)the setting only work to a certain extent though and arnt by any means foolproof, Peter

You really need the full version of something like Acrobat as you can set the document security properties there e.g. read only, no-printing, save disabled, etc. If you need full control (version/contents) of a document this is the way to go. In addition you also have the ability to embed digital signatures for added confidence/security.
Its also more professional than having the constant pop-up "enter password – do you want to open a read only copy?"

Oddly, enough signlab will open most password/edit protected PDFs

Problem with PDF passwords is that anyone with google and the net can remove them without too much effort. Best way I can see is as mentioned and low res save as a bitmap within the document.

Would your customer not still be able to do a screen shot and save to disk anyway ?? and then edit it in some way.

To me that just makes the print look poor and may even loose the job.
Hard one to win over

Both X3 and X4 both have password, printing and editable permission options, not sure about V12 though. Although it would stop someone who didn’t know how from stealing your designs, anybody with a will would find away. Must admit it is not something I find a huge problem.

hmmm, i suppose i can do a good enough res screen shot that will suffice, it’s not for a job so to speak…
I still use corel 12, will uprade one day! cdr12 doesn’t have securyt settings like mentioned on X3/4,
regards,
Hugh
