Corel draw and PLT file
Posted by Jane Snell on 11 June 2009 at 11:52I have had Corel draw working fine creating a stencil and then sending to the plt program to cut. However, all of a sudden I cannot get the stencils to work. They are appear all okay in corel and then when I save as a PLT file and import in to the PLT program they are totally blank with just the stencil edge so I get a square cut out but no image.
Anyone any ideas. Hope the above makes sense. I think its something I’m doing with Corel.

Which version of Corel are you using & what is the program/version you are importing the PLT file into ?

Has it been working ok or have you just upgraded to X4?

Just been playing around and any lines I draw are fine and go to the plotter its just the image. Everything else can be seen in the PLT program to send to the plotter. Its just the image. Just tried changing to bmp files rather than gif or jpeg and no difference.

Was working previously when I first got it now won’t. Sure its something so stupidly simple and staring me in the face, but can’t find it whatever it is. Wasted a whole day on it now…. 🙁

From what I remember of plt files we always created ours with hairline outlines in coreldraw, seemed to cause the least problems when we imported into our engraving software.
Could it be the same with your plotter?

Hey BIG THANK YOU :thanks2: , don’t know if it will be the solution, but its just given me a huge light bulb moment :cheer:
The drawings I used previously were outlines the ones I am trying to use now are not which is possibly why they aren’t working. So for example (not literally) if I wanted flames I had a white page and effectively drew like with a pencil the flames ie only had a thin line up and down creating the flames. The pics now are all solid in fill so the flames would be all filled in black so no pencil line.
I am going to try converting the images I have now into outlines only and see what happens. I am pretty sure this is the answer.
Will post and let everyone know when I’ve tried it so if it happens to anyone else they know the answer. If it is right talk about staring you in the face. I thought it would be something simple. A whole day wasted on this ….. 🙄 :lol1:

Hi Jane,
Glad to hear you are up and running again, its usually the "simple" solution that are the hardest to find till someone takes a step back and spots it. Happens all the time, as I say good to hear you’re sorted though 😉
