Just been thinking, maybe some of you have come across this scenario before? If a client specifies a font they would like to use on some of there signage, that is for personal use only who is liable for the copyright infringement???should the designer inform the client?

i’m not 100% certain, however, in my T&C’s it says that while we do try and check artwork properly, it is down to the customer to ensure that they have the appropriate permissions to use any potentially copyrighted materials in the manner that they have asked us to reproduce them.

it’s just not time efficient to check every individual font / bit of clip art, that’s down the the customer

Would welcome some input on this aspect, just about to launch a www site where customers can upload images to produce signs etc…

What if someone uploads a FORD LOGO ? – we have already been "done" by them in the past for advertising ford logo on signs. – (well number plates ha ha) but we don’t do them anymore – promise officer.

I assume that if you have purchased a commercial font, it is OK to use it for commercial
purposes. Ive certainly never heard otherwise. You would have to check licensing
    restrictions for free fonts.
