I don’t know whether this has been posted before so apologies if it has!

We probably all recognise the printed shirts with the designs:

I Love London (Love = Heart)
    I Love Wales
    I Love Cardiff
    I Love Scotland
    I Love Edinburgh
    I Love Ireland
    I Love Dublin
    and many more ……

Well, London Icons Limited have gone and successfully copyrighted the lot! With the run up to the Olympics, seems they might pull in a few bob.

These shirts have been available for years – I remember buying a couple for my kids when we visited London years ago.

It’ll be interesting to see if their copyright is enforceable. What do you think?

I couldn’t see them claiming copyright as they are hardly the originator of the concept. Perhaps the first person to ever use a heart as love could sue them for derived artwork!

Sounds like a newspaper report without all of the story.

Think the best they could get is a very specific one for a tweaked font, specific heart shape and a layout. Change any and they can’t do squat imho.

    Seems they mean business.

Very interesting article – starts page 15 in the August edition of Printwear & Promotion magazine.
