  • CONVERTING MAC TO PC ?

    HELLO ALL
    I have a customer that will be shortly sending some artwork..i know they use mac only..i am trying to establish if i need any special software to open mac files..or if any one offers a service to convert to pc.
    like i said..not seen the files yet..but anticipating problems..any guidence is appreciated as to what to look out for.

    Go to http://www.asy.com and download (shareware) Transmac and Crossfont, these should sort virtually all cross platform needs.

    if they turn up as Filesomething.DAT then they are sending the file direct without compression. The MAC uses a different file system idea then the PC, so they should ‘Stuffit’ the file (extenstion SIT). Stuffit is downloaded from AladinSystems and it is the cleanest way to transfer over email

    The archives (freehand, illustrator, coreldraw, tif…) are compatible.
    Not needed to compress the archives.

    If they compress ask them to avoid the .img or .dmg format.

    They can use .sit, .sitx, .zip, .rar and you can open them perfectly.

    Also if they burn a CD tell them to make it hybrid CD (mac/pc).
