  • Contravision that can be applied to the inside?

Is there such thing as contravision/one way vision that can be applied to the inside of a window?

I need to produce window displays in a town centre and the customers don’t want kids picking at the vinyl on the outside.

I’m imagining the perforated film having black on the inside and the adhesive on the white side. This could then be applied on top of a reverse printed transparent vinyl on the inside of the window.

    Many thanks,
    Owen

3m do an internal product. speak to william smith,
It is reverse printed, then a black backing laminated to it, but it requires quite a high temp, be warned it is not cheap.

I would give the customers the option of either inside or outside as there is likely to be quite a large difference in price if the internal stuff Peter has mentioned is expensive. I have had customers worry about kids picking vinyl off the outside of windows but have never known it to really be a problem, especially not in a shopping centre which is probably locked up at night.

Owen, there is a great tutorial on the front page of the forum for creating your own contra vision by rob.. I have used this technique on the back of my 4×4 for a full window sign it’s great, of course this is for outside application, however I see no reason why it shouldn’t work in reverse.

Reverse print on clear back with white and then cut the 2mm strips as detailed in the tutorial, job done!

I think that will work, it works out lot’s cheaper and because your printing on clear, effectively you wont need to laminate except with the white which is cheaper.

    Anyone agree?

    Hi there

Yes we do sell perforated Window film for inside application but no it’s not 3M, it is in fact Contra Vision TM.
It is a perforated clear film, you reverse print it and apply a thermal transfer backing paper (black on one side white on the other) using a laminated with a heat of 120°C and most laminators will not get hot enough.
    Hope that helps a little.
