Contour cutting advice please? do i need a bleed?
Hi there
I have some artwork i need to give to a printer. I need some full colour circles printed and contour cut. Do i need to add a bleed to the artwork to have them contour cut?
Sorry, i have never supplied contour cutted prints before so i’m just not quite sure about this part.
I would ask the printer but i haven’t found one yet so i thought i would check here in advance for when i do find one.

Yes you will need to put at least 2mm bleed to be safe.

A little bleed is normally required but only if the cut goes through / to the edge of a coloured / printed section. If leaving a white border of a couple of mm then not required.
Most print & cut machines are fairly accurate – but a bit of leeway is always welcomed as it prevents small slivers of white creeping in.

Thanks for your answers. So if the client has a logo which he has had designed. A circle logo which he wants contour cut. He has the artwork but it has no bleed.
What is my best option on a 50cm logo.
Sacrifice a couple of mm of the logo to act as the bleed or is there any way of adding a bleed to a multi coloured logo, any kind of cheat?
