Maybe an edge lit clear acrylic panel with the "open" etched into it?

Or you could use neon wire, I have its pretty effective.
And so simple to do on just an open or closed sign.
But edge lit I don’t think you can beat, it looks great, but its not that cheap.
Unless you buy the 15 quid fire hazards off ebay, My mate in the tattoo shop next door bought one and I compared it to my Applelec one I made up, there was no comparison.
I especially liked the 240 volt supply going directly into a cold cathode tube instead of a transformer 😮
