ive restarted it, tried it in both com ports. i havnt totaly rebooted the comp like reinstal windows.. ive checked the ports and its like its not even plugged in. the cutter does a test cut on its own so i guess that is working ok, just not being found by my comp? (?) i’m a bit new to all this and its probably something simple

I do not know the cutter, but have you got any thing installed on the pc that maybe locking the ports ie. pda, phone? have you looked at the software to see if it says any were about installing a plotter?
-
I ‘ve never heard of the plotter or software. but do you need to tell the software which plotter it should use?, is there a manual or help files with the software or plotter?

i dont have one of these.. but com port technology normally doesn’t have any “auto-finding” things.
You should be setting up a COM1: with possibly a baud of 9600 and so forth which I suspect is in the manual.
If the PC is XP and you have gone Control Panel > System > Hardware tab > Device Manager > Under Ports (COM & LPT) should be Communications Port (COM1)
If that isn’t there then the COM1 ports are either not plugged in (inside case (unlikely)) or the settings in BIOS/CMOS on the PC are switched off.
However you may have a USB connection on the back of the plotter… should look like a square “D” shape socket, I would suggest using this as it is much simpler

normally the software needs to know the type off plotter and the means off conection, have you tried the usb connection? they tend to be easier to set up.
Do whoever you bought it off, have any form of support?

ive set up the ports as it says in the manual, but the next step says to open the software and open the cutter output screen but it isnt lit up in the list, so i cant select it, its like the software cant se the cutter. i rekkon its something to do with drivers. i expect the cutter is the same as others on the market just with diferent stickers on it. does anyone know where i could get some drivers?? tried looking for ojet but alas nothing found 🙁

Sounds daft but to open the cutter output, perhaps you need to draw a square or something first otherwise you are not giving it any thing to cut?

yeh peter i have tried doing some text but it stil doesnt light up in the list, i’m sure its cos the comp doesnt know the cutter is there, it was supposed to come with a USB adapter but there wasnt one in the box, i have emailed the seller to se if they have one they can send on to me if not i will have to try some diferent software or get one of my computer literate friends to come round and try, i’m not to up on the tech side of comps and i only bought the cutter to save money on doing my own stickers and do favours for friends, i’m a ceramic tyler by trade so i wont be givin that up just yet :lol1: 😉

I doubt if different software will help, the plotter may have some set up in the menu that needs to be adjusted, such as baud rate, and this may need to match the com port on your computer, any way I can only give general advice as I do not know the softtware or the plotter. I know others have had problems with imported chinese plotters, perhaps someone who has may be able to help, hope you get it sorted.

hi all, just downloaded a trial version of signgo and the cutter worked, i’m also using the pcut 900 driver.. have you heard of signgo and is it any good? as its a 30 day trial i will have a play and se what i think of it before i part with any cash, any suggestions on good software thats easy to use?(for a beginner)

Glad to hear you got sorted! sort of.
A lot of people use coral draw and a cutting interface to start, and indeed some use nothing else!
Dont know if this route will drive your plotter though?Saturday can be quiet on the boards but Im sure you will get some advice
before to long.Peter

Hi, I seem to have made the same mistake, I’ve bought an Ojet 800e from a german called Kersten Waltz on ebay. Its come with Cutter Master and no proper instructions. It plugs into my COM and sounds exactly the same and I have the same problems with the software in chineese or something. I’ve tried everything I could and then found this 🙂 I’ve downloaded and installed Signgo but can’t find the section for "Pcut 900". Could you please explain how you made yours work and I’d be extremely grateful because it might turn mine into something more than a door stop 🙁

Doesn’t matter, I’ve followed what you did and finally got it working, thanks so much 🙂

I have an Ojet vinyl cutter, which took me a while to get working. There is a program on the CD that when you run it will come up with a list (though mainly questions marks due to being chinese). One of the selections will be DMPL with some question marks, I select that one and it works fine. Will have a proper look when I’m back at work to note the exact file name and driver name.
One word of warning for Master 98 – don’t upgrade using the one on the website as all the graphics won’t load in actual size after upgrading!

I would like to know the instructions as well, if you don’t mind sharing them with me? That would be great help for me, thanks.

How well does it work with signgo? I tried vinyl master pro with the Ojet and found that when cutting out shapes, the start of the cut didn’t meet the end of the cut and had to use a scalpel to finish all the cuts before weeding. I can’t get the trial version of signgo to work on mine – it keeps saying my 30 trial has expired and its only been installed for a day!
