Composite pricing on the back of transit tipper
Morning all
Hope everyone is nice and busy..
I have never put composite signage on the back of a Transit Tipper and I don’t know how to cost it. Can anyone help?
The side measurements are 370mm high and 3065 wide (I can just stop this at 3m) and the back is 370 x 2000mm, I also have to put a large printed logo over both the front and rear doors of the double cab and a small one on the bonnet.
The design is a solid colour with white text so I am thinking flood coating the composite and adding the white text after.
I have the price of hoarding board, I know the price of the vinyl, I know my overheads but I think I’m coming out too high and I wanted your thoughts.
I’m thinking £425+vat

Hi Dan,
You’ll need to charge for the whole sheet of comp, and don’t forget any cutting and delivery costs on it. go with a 3050 panel and you’ll only have a small few mm gap either end.
worth also noting, keep the panel at least 10mm in from top and bottom, they get trashed otherwise – leaving jagged edges where the lads drag stuff out of the back…
Other than that you need to work out your retail print pricing and labour as per usual.
I fix in two ways.. either a strong 4mm pop-rivet every 400mm, or use the flat head self-drilling / self tapping tech screws, again every 400mm. MUST MUST MUST be secure and fitted that way as you’re liable if… If they want it fitted any other way just say no, end of.
Personally think 425 sounds a bit low, on a 7yr polymeric film like MD% I’d be looking at £340 + fitting just for the printed compo panels.. ex vat.

Thanks Hugh, very detailed and didn’t even think about fitting them to the panels.

I’d recommend not using the hoarding grade as it really is garbage for anything long term.
Pay the extra £30 and pass it on to the customer for some quality 0.3mm. More rigid, more alloy…and not going to delaminate once water gets the edges.
3050×1500…mimimally £340 with full coverage, wrap the flood coat round the edges anyway.
Fitting (use tape to hold it flat AND rivets to hold it on)…maybe £60 as it’s a really easy job.Get permission to put holes in vehicle first…

Give or take a £1 seems fair to me for good few hours of work and materials.
Agreed with using higher grade than hoarding board though.
