  • Complete Sign making & garment printing business for sale..

After a lot of thought I’ve decided to sell the main sign making side of my business in order to concentrate on my more specialised signwork which still fits in with my current circumstances…

Dragon Signs & Print was established by myself in 2005, it is one of two businesses I own and run part time. The business is not vat registered and is owned by myself – a sole trader, trading as Dragon Signs. The business supplies signs for all uses, shops, vans, site boards, arena and sports pitch advertising etc. It rinting garments with textile vinyl, TMT laser transfer and sublimation. Stationery printing, poster, canvas & photo prints are also a part of the business.

The business is based at Blackbarn Farm, it’s right on the side of the A22 at Lower Dicker, just north of Hailsham, E Sussex, meaning that thousands of vehicles and potential customers pass the shop sign every day! It is an amazing opportunity for someone able to put full time regular opening hours into the business. I moved the business to Lower Dicker from our shop of 18 months in Herstmonceux at the beginning of November 2014, I had the intention of putting in more hours but, due to accepting an employed position this is now not feasible.

The 8.5 x 6.5m unit was bare when I moved in, over the following 6 weeks and at a cost of approximately £2000, I built a fully insulated office / clean production area with economic LED lighting, double glazing etc. it was professionally wired and floored. The office /clean production area comes fully equipped with 4m glass topped workbench, heat press / packing bench, computer desk & chair, wall mounted vinyl racking and a large cupboard unit supporting the desktop printers, it also stores paper stock, catalogues, etc. There is plenty of storage within the unit and on top of the office roof (most of what you see on the office roof is my personal junk which will be removed!). The office was built to be a compact and efficient working environment, though it can accomodate a larger printer, cutter and laminator without too much hassle.

The unit has plenty of parking around and you can accommodate vehicles inside – up to the size of a Vauxhall vivaro or ford transit, it has powerpoints all round and a 4.5m x wide 3m high roller shutter door, to finish the interior it just needs permanent lighting in the open area of the unit and the exterior of the office painting. Toilet facilities and water are shared with the other businesses on site. Rent is currently a very reasonable £300 pcm with a rolling lease – keep it as long as you like or don’t. Small business rate discounts will apply if you’re eligible. Electricity is via the landlords’ £1 & £2 coin meter, set at just 0.14p per unit at peak times.

With the exception of my personal tools and the PC pictured (it runs both businesses and is easier to set up a new one), everything you need to continue operating the business will be included.

    Sale includes,

    · 2003 Vauxhall Vivaro, 1.9cdi, metallic black, rear seating & windows, signwritten (sides will be re-written shortly, or left blank if you want to rebrand), long MOT , well looked after and will be freshly serviced.
    · Fully loaded laptop or pc with all software required to run the equipment. All old customer artwork files (going back ten years!) a copy of 2013/14 & 2014/15 invoices to help with repeat customer pricing. Photo portfolio and a list of suppliers will also be supplied.
    · Highly ranked website http://www.dragon-signs.com & twitter account @dragonsigns. both will be transferred.
    · Summa D60 cutter plotter.
    · HP Z2100 24” photo / canvas printer, relatively low use, bulk ink system.
    · Ricoh A3 sublimation printer with a spare set of new inks.
    · Oki C5600 A4 laser printer – Supplied by The Magic Touch for garment transfer & general printing.
    · Epson SX220 A4 printer – used for printing envelopes etc.
    · Easymount 700 powered cold laminator,
    · Atkins 50x 38cm swing away heat press, Old but it does the job!
    · Mug heat press – for pressing sublimation prints onto mugs.
    · Electric business card cutter,
    · Comb binder and combs (manual)
    · Wire binder and binders (manual)
    · Corner rounder and other misc sign tools.
    · 50+ part rolls of vinyl for vans & signs
    · 20+ part rolls of garment / textile vinyl,
    · 10+ rolls of 24” papers (photo, matt, satin, canvas etc) for the HP Z2100.
    · Reems of paper for sublimation, laser transfer, Vellum, Conquest, heavy silk etc.
    · boxes of t-shirts, polo’s & hoodies (almost entirely regularly sold colours and sizes)
    · Stock of composite, foam and correx sheet materials (mostly smaller popular sizes and usable offcuts)
    · Ladders, trestles, step ladders, scaffold boards and more.
    · Misc tools & fixings.
    · Too much to properly list!

A full inventory is currently being compiled.
Due to the business being that of a ‘sole trader’, it may be that certain services, such as the credit card terminals may not be transferrable, though I will do what I can to find out all of these details and advise / help transfer them. You will need your own new Business bank account and will need to possibly renew trading accounts with some of the suppliers.

The business is solvent and profitable, it has only a small overdraft and a few outstanding accounts to settle; Upon agreement of sale and a deposit being received, any outstanding accounts will be brought fully up to date so the business you take over will have a totally clean slate when it is signed over to you. The business is totally clean – ie. It has no ccj’s or other nasty surprises. If you want a solicitor involved in the process then the buyer is responsible for all legal costs.

Following the transfer of the balance of funds on the agreed date, the business will be signed over, along with the vehicle and any other business that needs to be dealt with. Some ongoing training and advice can be given for an agreed term following the sale.

For serious enquiries only, offers in the region of £22,000 are invited for the entire business – which is made up of the estimated value of all assets and 6-8 months p/time income.
If you wish to discuss the business further or arrange a visit please email me, dragonsigns@hotmail.co.uk

I’m really loathed to leave the unit Martin, really loathed – seeing as I’ve just put so much money into it but, the other business needs my time and capital so it’s time to move on. I’ll still be making signs of sort but just a more specialised market.

Getting married later this year and it’s a big expense, thus taking a salary and concentrating on the limited Co part time makes better financial sense than trying to run a business part time that needs full time attendance. I’m getting loads of calls from potential customers I’m not there to see so the location is good, the business is pretty good too, just bad timing!

Sorry to here your leaving "of sorts"
You were a great help and welcome when I first joined and I appreciate that. I left he business only to come back to business after my son was made disabled. I want to wish you all the luck mate I’m sure you will be fine. If you posted this few months back I may have brought all that off you. Like you put silly amounts of money into business. Hope it works but we will see.
Anyway good luck with it all. And congratulations in advance to your marriage.
    You will be ok.
    Take care buddy
    Mike
