    Hi all

I keep getting a error message saying "Cannot find the communication port" when I go to cut. I was using my machine yesterday with no problems.
Turned it off, back on again, re booted etc but with no luck
Anyone got any other ideas on how to solve it please

    Jane,

I have just spoken to one of my operators and she says that she can dimly remember getting that error message once herself. As far as she can remember she just pressed the OK button and the cutter then carried on working as normal.

If that doesn’t work let me know and I’ll ask the other, more experienced, girl when she comes in tomorrow.

Check the USB port it is plugged into. If it’s into a hub, try unplugging the
hub, and then plug it back in. If directly into the Mac, unplug the USB cable
to the plotter, then plug it back in. This usually sorts it when I get this.

    Cheers,
    Jamie.

Since you’re on a Mac if the previous posts don’t help (which I think is absolutely the correct way to start out with your problem) you can go to your Utilities folder located in your Applications folder. Open the Disk Utility application. Select your hard drive in the window on the left. Next click on the button that say "repair permissions". This typically will sort out most weird problems that you would run into on a Mac. Let us know if you still have problems though.
