Hi all, ive always printed black using standard illustrator setting 100% k. However i noticed the its not black black and after some testing found a much better formula. C60 M40 Y40 K100. Problem is now im doing some small stickers 35mm, the yellow and black text is slightly migrating together creating rough edge and affecting the yellow edge slightly.

    What do you guys use?

I guess that will depend a lot on your profile. Make and print these 3 and see the difference

    For large areas of black I use 30, 30, 40, 100.

Pane is absolutely correct, it will depend on your printer, ink, material and profile as to how much ink it lays down and the density of black that then creates.

For smaller text revert back to 100 percent k, you won’t notice the black being slightly lighter as there’s less of it and the colours won’t bleed in to each other then.

    Cheers

    What config are you using?
With a Roland device and VersaWorks you have the Roland Color Systems Library – a set of spot colours that you can use with specific settings and in there are 2 different blacks, a 100% black ink and a composite one.
If you use a CMYK percentage the actual values may differ depending on the RIP settings…colour management.
    Cheers
