Cloudy clear safety vinyl
Hello all hope every one is ok since its been a long time since i was on here last.
I have a problem with some recently fitted clear safety vinyl on single glazed glass.I recently fitted 40 pieces of 200 micron safety film at my local University and the day after they all misted up so i got on the my supplier who sold me the vinyl who told me it will take a few days to clear.Two weeks later it was still misted so i had to take them all off and put up a new roll of the vinyl which its been 2 days now and there all misted up.
i originally cleaned the glass with a mild soapy water and used a Stanley blade to scrape off any other bits left on,i then used alcohol to clean the glass then applied distilled water and squeegeed it off then squirted the glass again with distilled water and then placed the clear vinyl to it but wet the vinyl first as well
then pushed all water out with my application tool as per fitting instructions.
can any body give me some clues of what it could be please as £300 per roll is a lot to do it again

Guessing it is a water based adhesive, if so it will eventually clear.
Can it not be applied dry?

We had the same issue a couple of months back, what we installed went almost white and looked terrible, on the fitting instructions it said apply wet and remove water quickly, by the time we got to the bottom of the 3m drops, the adhesive could be rubbed off.
We had to replace it with a new product unfortunately.

It is water based yes ,to be honest i wouldnt trust myself to do it dry.
The size i did was 660 x 1300 so it went on quite fast the marks only appeared about three to four hours later.But the last lot i fitted it was still marked two to three weeks later -
water based glue is the cause of your problem. Either do it dry or use a solvent based glue (are there some on transparent vinyls?).

The cost of a course will more than repay for itself in time saved on fitting in a very short space of time.
