  • Clarity Software conflicting with other programs ?

Posted by Adrian Neill on 7 May 2013 at 11:16

    Afternoon Everyone.

We’ve recently opted for the Clarity software. We were really looking forward to getting this up and running, but so far it’s been a bit of a nightmare !!

We’ve purchased 8 licences, but we can only get the program to run on 2 out of the 8 PC’s. Us and Clarity seem to have drawn a blank on why the other 6 PC’s do not seem to want to run the program ??

Anyone else had any issues with compatibility with Clarity running alongside other programs ??

There was mention that Corel Draw may conflict, but we’ve installed Corel Draw X6 on one of the PC’s that will run Clarity and it still works fine.

Any help would be appreciated before we have to dump the software (which we really don’t want to do).

    Morning Dave.

    Nope nothing at all.

My particular PC (running windows 7) says "Runtime error 217 at 50CF989B"
And the others (running XP or Vista) say "Clarity.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience".

All PC’s are connected on the same network, although running various different programs. Very frustrating indeed.

Are you running Norton by any chance? Antivirus especially, if so get rid and try again. You can try and disable but if that does not cure it take it out totally and try to find one of their cleaning scripts for removal then try again on affected machines.

Hi Kevin, thanks for your reply on this.

I did have a bit of a ‘Google’ with the runtime error and it does appear that Norton can cause all sorts of problems, but we’re running the AVG (paid version) on all of our PC’s. We did completely remove the program from one of the machines and tried again but with no effect.

It’s so frustrating as I bet it’s something very simple. Also very frustrating as we REALLY want to run with Clarity, but it’s looking like we’re going to have to ditch the idea.

Yep your more than lightly find it is something simple but i think your looking along the right lines as its got to have something to do with software either on the machine or thats been on the machine. Are you in a position to wipe one of the machines and make this the first software you install, check its working ok then add back your other stuff one at a time checking each time it still works till you either find the culprit or until everything is back in again without problem.

If its not antivirus then maybe a plugin from a printer driver perhaps, not really sure without seeing the machines and comparing one that works and one that does not.
