chrome vinyl can it be used on van recesses?
Posted by Saul Jones on 21 February 2007 at 09:52Hi Guys and Gals
Can anyone help me!!! I have 6 large vans to do with 2m x 2m chrome vinyl stars, they will end up going over the window creases, is there any thinner vinyl that makes it easier.
The vinyl I use is multifix which is great for most things, but it is thick.
Cheers

sual, wheres abouts in spain are you? if you can print chrome (with and edge) then you will be able to use the thinner materials which will be able to go into and over the creases. i have an edge and have done this before as the edge can print chrome.
cheers,

Hi Matt
I am in Palma, I do not have a printer as yet, my Local is not big enough.
Is the chrome print as good!
Where are you! -
I have never seen Edge printed chrome (well I don’t think I have) but I can’t imagine it being any where as effective as a proper chrome polyester film. Like you say though Matt at least if it is printed it would be a lot more conformable.
A 2 mtr square on the side of a van is going to encounter some recesses I would have thought unless it is something like a luton with a large flat side. I would stay away from any recess work with chrome as its not really very conformable and not suited to recess work. The printed idea would be better if you can get a decent chrome effect with it. -
The Edge silver medal is only for short term indoor use.

I’ve used a 5 year chrome material. I say ‘material’ because I don’t know what it is made from – vinyl, polyester? Anyway, it wasn’t conformable at all and was very similar in nature to the polyester I have used with the Edge. Is there a conformable chrome? What was that chrome-wrapped Transit done in, that someone posted recently?

the edge chrome is for indoor use, but i have used it alot outdoors and had great results. if you were to use it outdoor for along term i would suggest laminating it to be sure. as i said, i have done this myself and have used it on vans/cars etc and even after a couple of years still looks good.
i’m in malaga saul, great place if you like tourists!!!!!!!!!!
