Chrome backed labels …HOW MUCH?
Posted by Mo Gillis-Coates on 8 December 2010 at 12:27I just quoted a customer on 1200 chrome metallic printed labels each 60mm x100mm and he’s come back to me with a price he has received already for £150???
I couldn’t even but the media for that, am I way off the mark? I estimated 15m of silver gloss 40cc of ink, 30 mins to get artwork print ready and about 1 hour to slice dice and package…..
Am I missing something? what would you all charge?

grfityp do printable chrome @ £7.50/m,610 wide, but £150 sounds way too cheap with a/work ink & prep time!!!
And prob 15 m wouldn’t be enough unless you’re very trusting of your printer to do them in longish runs!!

I would run them in 1 meter sections… but your right I can’t even get close to that price, the material costs alone came in about £175
-
doing them in m runs(if you got the job of course)i would add at least 2m for wastage, c**k ups etc
-
no definitely not got the job, I don’t want it at that money i’d be losing money I quoted 350
-
Didn’t think you’d being doing it Mo, just saying i thought your 15 metres was a bit on the light side

Fine, £350 but my material cost would be a lot less than what you have quoted.

quote Mo Gillis-Coates:nope multi colour labels…..
if you are using inkjet it is of no matter how many colours, as I am sure you are aware.
but there are processes that print small stickers far more efficiently than ink jet,
if your customer has found a cheaper way of doing it, then move on,
we often think that because we have a 5 or 10k printer we can do everything, the truth is, if you specialise, you can be far cheaper than "one offs" on an all round machine,
