It is with enormous sadness that Charterhouse Holdings plc
announces the death of founder and Executive Chairman
Maurice Clayton at the age of 78 following a short illness.

Today trading as Kustom Kit and Xpres, Charterhouse was founded in
1970 initially supplying knitwear to some of the biggest names on the
British High Street. The company also enjoyed great success with the
production of licensed merchandise before spotting the opportunity
offered by the personalised clothing and gift industry and developing
the Kustom Kit and Xpres brands.

Maurice was revered throughout the industry and the continued success
of Charterhouse is testament to his considerable business acumen. His
passion and enthusiasm for driving the business forward was infectious
and he continued to eschew retirement, working right up until Christmas
2014. Maurice was also a devoted family man – an adoring husband,
    father and grandfather.

Luke Clayton, Executive Director said: "My father will be enormously
missed by everybody associated with the business. Our family remains
fully committed to the continued development of Charterhouse Holdings
plc. As part of our long term strategy, we appointed Miles Carter as Chief
Executive in December 2014 to take operational control of the business.
After spending the first 13 years of his career with 3M, Miles has
subsequently held senior level positions, most recently as Managing
    Director, with several successful organisations".

Miles comments: "At this sad time we take great comfort that Maurice
was able to lead the company to record sales in 2014 which naturally he
was thrilled about. 2015 promises to be another exciting and progressive
year with plans for further growth of both brands through product
development and the introduction of new systems".

The family have asked that in lieu of flowers, donations should be made to Maurice’s favourite charities:
