  • Changing Font when its converted as a curve

Posted by Daniel Warren on 13 April 2012 at 07:53

I may be going a long winded way about this.

When I create text in CorelDraw, I convert it to curves so it is easier to manipulate.

I move it around, adjust it, distort it etc etc.

When for example, I realise I actuallly now dislike the font, it appears too late to change it.

Is there a way around this? Or am I perhaps starting off wrong by converting it to curves straight away?

I always save a copy before converting to curves, then you have the option to manipulate or change the fonts.

    cheers

As Dan says, make a copy/duplicate (Ctrl + d) so that you can always revert to it. Depends on how much or what kind of distortion you have in mind. You may not need to be converting to curves – take a look at the Envelope tool for example.

or, quicker in corel, drag your item while holding left mouse key down, right click when in place and it’ll duplicate there and then!

No, Hugh – not for me I’m afraid – still using v12 here!!! Dinosaur alert! 😀 😀
I like hot keys anyhow. I did a lot of tech drafting in the distant past using AutoCAD under DOS – hot-key commands abounded… can be very fast method of working once you’re used to it. I got a shot of Windows AutoCAD around a year ago – couldn’t make a bat of it ! 😕 Took me all of ten minutes to chuck it in…

I use the envlope feature after I convert the text to curve.

I found without doing that, the larger text box wouldn’t skew it as well as when a curve.

I will play about with some text later uncoverted and see if I can get the same sort of results.

Talking of dinosaurs, i’m using V11.

Nu – still doesn’t work in this version/config. Probably a setting for it somewhere.
    Ctrl + d = way to go! 😀

Just pressing the + key will place a duplicate directly ontop of the orginal.
