  • changing an encoder strip?

Posted by Dan Osterbery on 16 April 2014 at 08:22

Hi Guys, i seem to be getting intermittent printing problems, and I think it is the encoder strip, we have been cleaning it, and it runs ok for a couple of hours, then the problems appear again. The encoder strip has not been changed since we bought the machine 8 years ago, it now has visible black marks running down the middle of it. I have bought a new one, has anyone changed one before is it very complicated? Its the normal drama, loads to get finished before Easter, and cant get any decent prints, so would like to have a go at changing it our selves today! Any advice appreciated.

    All the best

Hi Dave, thanks for your response, i cant seem to find any instructions on how to do it, anywhere? I believe there are adjustments that need to be made in the service menu, after you have changed it? Or is it just a straight swap?

    thanks

undo the spring end first and tape with application tape so you dont drop the spring lol

Dan, It should be set up in the service menu. If you have a service manual then it is there in black and white from the manufacturer i’m pretty sure they didn’t write it for nothing.

Hi Steve, sorry that’s what i meant when i said the linear calibration etc, yes there are two menus in service mode that must be adjusted or calibrated after fitting a new encoder strip.

    thanks
