  • Chalk boards (removing writing)

    Hi all.
This may sound daft, but how do I remove writing from a chalk board?
It’s on a wooden framed A board with a black rough(ish) finish and white writing. No matter how hard I scrub it the darn stuff will not come off. I tried soapy water to start with and that took a bit away but left a milky mess in the grain along with slightly faded lettering, I then resorted to meths, again nothing! The stupid part is where some bird has crapped on the writing it has come off completely! so apart from using a bucket full of bird poo what else can I try?

    Thanks Terry and Lynn.
I’m not looking for new ones at present. I got these boards of E-bay a few months ago. 2 of them (50"x24" approx), 1 new (in box) & 1 used for £21 the pair, local pick up. They seemed too good to miss at the time but I don’t know what I’m going to do with them yet.
I’ll have a go with the kitchen cleaner stuff and see how it goes. If not it will be out with the paint. Got to be better than using bird poo! 😀
    Many thanks.
