Carriage is disconnected message!!
Posted by David Graves on 9 April 2010 at 11:18Hi Guys,
I have had a problem twice today that has never happened before. Whilst printing large graphics the message ‘carriage is disconnected’ appears. The carriage is clearly not disconnected so there is no reason for it doing this. Printing stops and can’t be restarted without turning the power off and losing the print. Any ideas? By the way i managed to get 2 panels completed in between the first and second time it happened.

man i asked the exact same question, is yours a cadet? must be just one off those things that off/on fixes

I have got a grenadier soljet pro. Its really frustrating as i had a whole day printing on Saturday with no problems and then had the same problem once this morning. There is clearly nothing disconnected, the carriage returns to its start position as if it is going to continue with the print and then the message just appears. Is there anyway of overriding the message so i don’t lose the print every time?……as you can imagine it is becoming a little expensive!!

when it does it on my cadet it waits until it has printed say 2mts of a banner then it prints all over the place and then stops which is very frustrating and its costing me money on time and waste 🙁

Hi all
i think you may find that you have a ribbon cable problem giving a intermittent fault, it is a consumable part due to the nature in which it moves with the head. Don’t think they cost a fortuneKev

Cheers Kev, i had replaced my cable last year and it still prints great, but im in a bit of trouble now as it wont engage with its capping station and i cant find the wee winder to manually put the capping stations up 🙁

you were right kev, changed the ribbon cable and the old girl is up and runnin, cheers for helping out

Hi john
glad you are all sorted, see you had another problem with the capping station did you get that sorted as wellKev

yeah an other signmaker not far from me has the big cadet so he lent me the wee tool and i made a new one, amazing what you can do with a bit of 10mm copper pipe 🙂

well she has pooped herself again with the carriages disconnected error again 🙁

so the engineer and myself have figured out the problem, the bearings on the cutter head are going stiff sometimes and we reckon they are clogged up 🙁 there seems to be a bolt on and off part for these to be replaced, probably all in this sealed unit.. would anyone know the part name for this so as to look to get a new one?
