    Hi All

I had a request from a customer to sign her canvas canopy in front of her shop. I told her it might not be possible but would advise her. She only has her name on the window and is not very visible so she is keen to get something done.

I need to know a few things though,

    1) What can you sign a canopy with? (if it can’t be removed how would it be fitted?)
    2) The canvas is old and dirty, what tips do you have to prep the surface.
    3) Is there an option to replace the existing canvas with a new one (presume from the original supplier) or are they permanently fixed?

Any help, hints and tips will be appreciated.

    Thanks

    Warren,

My advice would be to let her remove it source a new one and then give you to write and then back to her to re-fit.

Often these are simply fixed with velcro, but if it’s old and dirty don’t even
think about trying to prep it. A new one will be required. (Sail makers will usualy do these.)

At the end of the day only a name is required so the wont be expecting a huge bill so let them do the donkey work.

Lastly unless you use fabric vinyl and heat it on std vinyl is not an option,
I have written a couple using fabric paint from an art shop.

    Hope this helps

    Hi Martin

Thanks for the reply, you have confirmed my thought but needed to check. Personally I would like her to move the whole thing down (it is higher than other shops around her ????) and then put up a proper sign above it (as all the other shops there have done)

I will tell her the options and hope for the best,

    Thanks again

    Warren
