Canon IPF8000s Printhead ink problem any help??
Posted by Andy Perry on 12 July 2012 at 01:44I have printed a nozzle check and the yellow is not showing up, yet I have cleaned it and printed my own test page yellow is coming out not bad, but red is coming out magenta and green is coming out a light blue…..Looking like some of the nozzles may be gubbed? or part of it that mixes the colours?
Anyone had similar problems or fixes?
It’s now nearly 3am and I am still in the unit scratching my head!!!
HELP!!!

Are any errors showing on the screen?
Do you have to hit the online button for your machine to print?
Looks like your heads may need replacing. The heads on the IPF8000s are very cleaver bits of kit if a few nozzles become blocked they substitue and use the others to print with, eventually the results get poor.
If you’ve recently replaced the heads then you may still be under the 12 month warranty period in which case canon should replace these as faulty ones.

Have you checked the ink lines for air? Air being drawn into the system can cause colours not to print, if you do a clean & find the yellow is printing but then stops there is a good chance that air is the problem.

They do just give up eventually. Best thing is to first of all check the warranty status. I know the PF-03 heads have at least 12 months warranty, maybe even 18 months (I know some of the earlier ones did). The heads are quite expensive but when you think about all the ink wasted from all colours on that side, and the amount you’re filling up your maintenance tank, you’re probably getting on towards quarter of the price of a new the head anyway.
Have you done cleaning A and B or just one of them? If the heads are definitely out of warranty and you’re about to fork out for a new one then it might be just as well to give the bottom of the head a clean with a soft cloth and some warm water (last resort of course).
Are you using genuine inks as well?
Best of luck

Hi Guys,
Yeah I have wasted a hell of a lot of ink at the moment, but I can’t figure this one out. I can still print and it is not showing any error logs, I thought there might have been an airlock, but think it is clear, unless there is one inside the printhead? Might try and squeeze the ink through I noticed there are small sacks in the top of the printhead for doing this…Unsure what they are actually for but seems to flood it with ink…
I probably will buy another printhead again, I was just hoping to save this one as it had only had 4 months of work on it and the machine has only done 740sq mtr so far…

Also, I am using compatible pigment ink, but this never had any problems before and I am pretty sure the inks are spot on.
I have done lots of head cleaning, calibration, alignments etc… totally flummoxed

You MAY have invalidated your warranty by using different ink, they’ll try and blame anything but their printhead. Maybe have a chat with the guys at Velmex if you can pin them down. Matt is pretty helpful when you can get hold of him. Best person for me would be Danny as he’s the onsite guy.
