  • cannot see lighting through lightbox case?

    Hi Everyone,

Just a little bit of advice needed. We recently installed a 10 metre lightbox for a new customer. The customer was one of those with a bit of a dusty wallet who knew what he wanted but didnt want to pay for it. We therefore constructed the lightbox with 100mm signcase and used 3mm opal perspex. Now however the customer is complaining that you can see the tubes when its lit. Would replacing the 3mm perspex with 5mm opal fix this problem, or is a whole new box required? Again, all help much appreciated.

I would be tempted to cover the rear of the panels with white translucent vinyl and see if that is the cheap way to get round it 😕

Or get some ‘prism’ styrene or acrylic to diffuse the lights.

In 100mm casing with 3mm opal – not much you can do as the lights are so close to the face.

Prism acylic is like loads of small diamonds on the surface of the acrylic that refracts the light.

It’s used for diffusers in offices etc. in suspended ceilings. Most plastics suppliers will have it.
