can you import a jpeg. file into Signlab 7?

Do you mean “View” / “Show Bitmap Outlines”
Shortcut key should be ALT M

This relaces the bitmap with a bounding box rectangle of the bitmap to save Redraw time.

Vince i thing you are trying to digitize?
Do you have the the module do do it?
double click the bitmap and in should either become editable or want to convert to black and white.
You can then trace it, but first you will need to posterize it, There is actualy a demo built into signlab that shows you the basics as a video.
