  • Can’t delete on PC

Posted by Andrew Boyle on 16 August 2007 at 21:18

I admit I don’t know my way around a PC…………but for some reason I can’t delete a lot of files it says "they’re being used by some……..".
Even when I disconnect the ethernet cables etc I still can’t delete them.
I’ve had a few people that know PC’s better than but they don’t know how to delete them…..I’m having to use software called Dr Delete to get rid of them on re-start.

    Any help appreciated 😀

not sure if i have this right but only time i get that mate is if another program has the file open at the same time. i.e. you open a picture in photoshop. then in windows explorer try and delete it… because its open in photoshop it will deny you the right and say its being used.
answer is to close all programs that may share the file. go to windows explorer and delete the file there. quick keys to windows explorer is hold "start/windows picture key" then press the letter "E".

Im probably wrong on your problem but thought ide mention it… :lol1:

They’re all ai, pdf and eps files.
Even on a clean restart not connected to anything, nothing in the ports etc………no applications open. I still can’t delete 😕

    Appreciate it 😀

I can’t believe I’m trying to do the same bloomin’ thing at this very moment
Two stubborn corrupted ai files sent to me
Can’t shift them from the recycle bin which means painstakingly removing each file
    Will try this
    Thanks Peter and Nik

remember when deleting JPG’s and your using the thumbnail or picture view, the damn thing tries to create index thumbnails so it prevents you from deleting files in explorer, normally after 10second you can delete them.

Ok ur sorted… if your on network, permissions can be one reason why you cant delete..
