I have 2 USB cutters and want to be able to use both at the same time and from mutiple macs through a server?

Does anybody do this and know if it is possible or not?

    cheers

Don’t see why not… down to the software quality.

So that’s neither a yes or no? Thanks Dave 😉 :lol1:

Need something definitive before I fork out £1k for software.

lets put it this way…. your mouse is usb.. your speakers are usb…. so why doesn’t your mouse play music and your speakers move the arrow?

down to software and how it interfaces.

    processors shouldn’t be a problem.

well that’s just it isn’t it? I want to know if the software is up for it and will work before I spend £1k on it.

I have just enountered a similar problem. One plotter, two computers to share it, and it is a USB connection.
I am told USB is "one to one". So to connect two computers to it, you have to either plug the plotter in to the computer that is going to use it, or have a hub with a switch to do this, either manually which is cheap, or automatically on a first come first served basis, which is relatively costly.

We use a switching hub, to share plotters between 2 Macs. Simple to set up, and no
need for new software. We use active USB extenders where we need to extend the cables, as USB signals degrade over a certain length.

Ask the supplier of the software, then if it doesn’t do what they say you take it back, simple.
