Did you ever read the article published in Image Reports Sep 2004 which condemned refillable ink systems?
It was written by Marc Burnett of B & P !!!

actually depends on the amount of printing lateley been using loads
there is nothing to changing to bulk system and its cheaper by quite a way

I’ve been in touch with a company known as (LFP http://www.inktec.com Europe) they have given me a price:
1L £70 each
And the one off empty refill cartridge £50 eachDose anyone use them and are they good???
-
be careful what you put in your machine is all i will say if its half the price every one else is paying then be suspicious

I never knew this was available, think I will def go down this road. Seems like a straight forward process too.

You only seem to be considering price.
What about possible damage to heads etc?
What about ICC profiles and the colour quality you are producing? Do you have profile making equipment?
What about the longevity of the prints?
Finally how much are you really going to save? I reckon ink costs at about 12% of selling price and that I’ve probably saved more by getting the best substrates at the best prices.

I would never have contempated using this from what Id heard before, however I have now been told (naming no-one) that its official uniform inks that are used on identical cartridges, so warranty etc are still covered. seems like a no brainer to me.

if they can give you that in writing backed by the company itself then good, but dont just go on what a rep tells you. he could be in a new job tommorrow and where does that leave you.
that said, there arer plenty GOOD alternatives out there on the go, but its a mine field.

i thought any ink that comes out of B&P has some kind of warante of use, i mean ink being sold by a reputable company.
If Mimaki started selling ink by the litres for a cheap price then I would be their first customer.. but Mimaki make their money via the parts/ink.
I dont really care who it is, they would have to convince me that the ink would not damage my machine more then mimaki ink does and also offer at least a few years of lightfastness or I would be interested in changing. The difficulty in getting heads replaced ‘outside’ of waranty’s now is much harder.

If the Inktec ink is the same as B & P’s ink at a lower price, it would be great news. However looking at the Inktec specs, there is an indication that their inks are non-inflammable and odour free, therefore they can’t be the same as B & Ps.

UNIFORM CADET – we converted around 8 months ago to bulk and believe you me well worth the while – got my price down from £140 per litre then £115 then another £115 and now after bartering £107 per bottle
(activsol) gets cheaper all the time (based on 3-4 bottles at a time)
