can anyone tell me why Pcut CT630 wont cut anything?
Posted by Ricardo Fernandes on 8 January 2007 at 02:50Hi there! I’m a newbie in cutting and plotting and all that, and I bought a PCUT CT630… I’m loosing my mind here… I installed the pltdraw that came with the cutter, and it worked just fine. Then I installed a demo of signlab 7.1 and it didn’t cut at all it sent all the data but the cutter didn’t even move (all the defaults were the same and tryed with the 2 different drivers available, tryed the Hardware, Xon/Xoff ). Tried Flexi aswell and it didn’t cut either… so I tried to stick with PLTdraw… now (MY REAL ISSUE) it won’t cut either… when I execute the "cut" command it gives me a message telling me "PassWord error". I uninstalled all the other applications, re-installed PLTdraw, reinstalled the serial to USB driver, tryed everything… my next step will be a disk format… (yes… I’m THAT desperate ) Can someone help me out?
Why did it cut before and not now? Thanks in advanced!
Ricardo

I feel stupid now… I wasn’t a Password error (as the stupid program claimed… how could it be if there is no password protection) it was the baud that was set to 9600 in the PLTdraw settings and 36000 (something like that) in the plotter firmware. All solved now…
thanks anyway and I hope this info was helpful to someone (as lame as me 🙂 !
kind regards – Ricardo

hi,
yeh ricardo, be sure to check the settings everytime you turn the machine on, as my baud settings sometimes change, as does the PRESS setting.
cheers

As it should

No offence, but P-Cuts are notoriously hard to setup with most commercial software, and if these are less than genuine pieces of software…from what I’ve read. Just saying…

Hi Ricardo,
It is unfortunate to hear that you are having issues with your SignLab demo. However, it is like David says that demo versions of SignLab are not able to send output to the given device, be they cutter, printer, etc. Further, a purchased version of SignLab will include a security dongle that serves as a product and feature identification tool.
If you were charged money for this product, then I would recommend that you pursue whatever reporting mechanism you have available to lodge a complaint against the seller.
I would further invite you to contact your local CADlink representative and request guidelines and suggestions for providing you with the software that you need. Mistakes get made, and the important thing now would be to get this resolved. In particular, it is not good policy to use pirated software because this introduces articficially low costs with respect to beginning one’s shop. It is better to purchase a known working piece of software that is provided with strong customer support, and retain the respect of other professionals.

Hi!
the SignLab I had have been given to me as a demo (or shareware) version… nobody sold it to me. It had output features and it also had a virus… I guess I learned the hard way… I lost most of my hard drive content…
I’m thinking about buying the software but I have 2 issues…
I have been searching on the web and there are versions about 300€ and some others about 3000€… how come?
and I need to know if my PCut 630 is compatible with the cutting features of the program…
Thanks for all your support.
regards,

Hi Ricardo,
To answer your questions:
1) I do not have a clear answer for disparity in SignLab pricing, especially since you seem to have found two extremes that don’t make sense to me. Can you PM me with the references that you have, which I can use to investigate the matter.
2) Yes, SignLab supports sending output to Creation PCut 630, provided that the cutter is set to DMPL mode. For any questions about supported printers or cutters, you can go to the CADlink.com site and perform a search for the device driver that you’re interested in.
I’ve sent a query to our UK office for them to get some local dealer help for you. To help speed things up, you can contact the CADlink UK office directly, or you can PM contact info to me that I will pass along.
With respect to that "shareware" SignLab that was given to you, can you PM me with details about that. That really needs to be investigated, and I’d appreciate your help.
All the best,
Rod at CADlink

talking about extremes:
http://oemsoftware.ws/index.php?target=desc&progid=780
is this an authorized dealer? if so I’ll buy it now…
I’m a bit tired of this issues and all this "extremes"… is there some royalties free program I can use? (I’m using PltDraw but it’s too simple)
about that "shareware" it was a friend of mine that downloaded from a payed Russian torrent site with the name "Signlab 7.1 buil4_demo" my friend already reported the situation.
thanks!
can someone give me any explanation about the price extremes? ($40 to $3000 ?!?!? I’ve never seen nothing like this before…)

The site you indicated is a Russian site that is selling pirated software. The recommendation for this sort of thing is to avoid it. When you were first stating that you had encountered pricing disparity, I suspected piracy of some sort, and I have passed your information along. If you are serious about acquiring legitimate professional software, then please contact our UK office. Contact info is available from the http://www.cadlink.com site.
