  • can anyone tell me why i get black ink blotches with cadet?

Hi All, have a slight problem. Am doing some stickers (5 x 5 inches) and a good part of the sticker is black. HOWEVER, this evening, whilst printing i am noticing blotches in the black areas as if the ink has not ‘taken’ to the vinyl, and is showing the vinyl through. The areas are about 2 – 3 milimitres – mainly round????

(Edit) Should have mentioned – 1 Year vinyl from Sign Master – Heat Settings:
    Print: 35
    Dryer 37

Has anybody got any suggestions PLEASE???

    Best wishes,
    Dawn

if i understand correctly that is normally associated with contaminated vinyl.

try a different vinyl any colour from stock and print a couple see if it goes away

Hi Chris – will give it ago with another roll. Same roll was in this morning though and output was fine.
Could be ‘something’ has got on to it – but nobody been near it!

Thanks anyway – I will try anything!

not an expert on printing yet, only just started tbh, but..

if the vinyl is not specifically ‘digital print’ vinyl, it wont have had the same treatment and will most likely have had some form of human contact or dust etc.

digital print vinyl is handled differantly (apparantly), im sure someone else will be able to explain better

i have had the same problem with prints on normal stock vinyl, but no issues with digi vinyl.

😀 It is Digi Vinyl – Think I must have a faulty roll 😕 (or some parts of) it prints ok on other vinyl. Just my luck 😥 being a relative newbie at this myself!

Thanks all for the advice 😀

i find buying cheap vinyl is false economy, for all it costs, get the best and have less problems
