What I should really say is that I am having problems converting a design into a cuttable format.

you have to asign a colour called contorcut for the cut line pick a colour and rename it then use it as the outline colour for your cut path

    Nik,
Did you solve the cutting problem you were having from coreldraw? I’m still getting iffy cutting quality from corel, but it is fine from Illustrator.

I was told by the Graphtec technical support that Corel does not give good results when cutting curves, when outputting as a printer. Fortunately, the driver disk had an add-on for illustrator, which works perfectly. Only thing is, I hate using Illustrator!

Another thing I found, (still on topic, I hope), when cutting from coreldraw the maximum cut seems to be about 2.7 metres. Then it cuts a vertical line and stops. Using non ‘sign’ software is great if you’re on a budget, but there are limitations.

    Nik & Big G

We still cant quite work out what problem you are having?? We design in corel we print using corel and we cut using corel, we do not get any jaggy edges or any iffy cutting problems at all with corel. The edges of circles etc are smooth.

Edit: We have cut to a maiximum of just over 3mtrs with corel. We do have signlab and illustrator but as we have been using corel from the very beginning we still have yet to make the swap over …….. in other words we still havent had time to learn how to use the others properly yet :lol1: 😳 But for a cheaper package corel works great for us and as I said above no cut problems.

I can’t understand the reason why people don’t save all this hassle and buy real dedicated signmaking software, complete with drivers, cut lines, profiles, fonts, etc etc instead of trying to do it on the cheap? Corel causes sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo many problems, if you actually bought the right software in the first place maybe all these problems would be very very small, dedicated basic signlab is dirt cheap, you’ll earn it back within months, why make it so hard? especially when corel is probably more expensive in the first place. 😕

Outline, I agree totally. Only thing is, self employed people have limited budgets and it’s a case of one expense at a time. Of course, when you fork out for a plotter, they tell you you can cut direct from whatever application using a printer-type setup. I found this to be not completely true.

Carrie, what version are you using? Perhaps this is where the difference lies. I’m using ver 9

Big G we use 8 & 10 …… perhaps if Nik is using 9 aswell and you both have same problem perhaps it is corel then???
