  • can anyone tell me how to delete illustrator files on pc?

    hi folks 😀

    on one of my systems, i use adobe illustrator for all my eps. work, some i save to the desktop some to a folder in my documents…the problem i have is once ive backed them up to disk….and i go to delete them..but they wont go, i get a message saying….’cannot delete, file being used by another programme please close down’ 😮 anyone any ideas, as its driving me mad 😕

    Is that happening on The PC? If so i will email you a program to unlock the file and delete this happened to me last time.

    whats actually happening is you have highlighted the file and the thumbnail displayed, therefore the file is now ‘in use’.. so deleting is a pain.
    I have to re-boot when this happens and try straight-away at removing them.

    The problem is terrible on TIF’s which are massive.

    Fire it up in safe mode and delete from there

    i guess you highlighted the file to delete it again.. ?! To get round it sometimes, I drag a box around 2-3 files and delete 2-3 files.

    Boys And ladies try the new software unlocker version 7 all you have to do is install in system right click on your file and choose unlock then it will delete the file.

    The reason this happens its a harmful virus that locks your files especially if they are coming from another computer. or maybe something we do when saving its more common with .eps files
