  • can anyone suggest layouts for my new van please?

Posted by Dave Bruce on 16 March 2005 at 15:11

Just playing with layout for my ‘new’ van.

Not into listing all services like Simon, just my logo and contact details.
Can’t decide to have the Oban in dark or light blue, I have always had it in light blue, but now I am wondering. 😕

    Any comments and advice please.
I have shown the two extremes here.

    Many thanks

    Dave

I would try a metallic dark blue as just a subtle suggestion.
    That would look so classy.
    Oban is a quaint place!

Sorry bt the b in oban is obliterated by the word studio

Maybe drop the Sign Studio a tad so that more of the “b” can be seen
    or
Try a fine outline around “Oban” to define it better

Blue vehicles are horrible to work with

    Cheers

    Thanks for your input Jill.

Iain, in reality it is not that bad because the dark shadow will be the proper shadow vinyl ie it is translucent.

    Cheers

Dave, would it be possible to post up an .ai or .cdr file so I could have a play with your existing design? Have an idea 😀

One other thing is that I would change the color
in the “S” words so that it is all the same.
    (yellowish)
    That looks distracting.

Yer I tried that Dewi but couldn’t get the file small enough obviously doing something wrong, tell me how please.

If you resize it to A5 size, convert it all to curves, it should be a fairly small file size 😕 What is the file size at the moment? I presume its above 350kb?

Try this, I am home now so only have the initial layout, but you will be able to play.

    I look forward to it

Dewi, your cunning plan wouldn’t involve playing around with the SOS theme would it?

  • Dave Bruce

No there is no altering the company name, and abreviations are out.
I am a snob so it is Oban Sign Studio :lol1:

    Cheers

    Dave

Why can’t I get the file size below 390kb as an ai file?

Not a play on the initials Dave, I know how much you like your company name 😉 I can’t open the CorelDRAW file either, what version is it saved as?

Hi Peter, the logo goes on the back panel instead of the front one.

The vito is a pig to do your logo, used on the other side would be unreadable, because of the door slider. just my 2ps worth

I took that in to consideration when sizing it, it fits (Mostly)above the door slider to make it readable.

    Thanks for the 2ps anyway

Not exactly what you would call a finished design, but its a quick layout of the idea I had 😕 Unfortunately I’ve just discovered that CorelDRAW 11 is a whole different from previous versions and I don’t like it 😥 😥

Thanks Dewi, that was one of my permatations when designing my logo, but decided the ‘O’ was too distracting.

Thanks all for the time and effort, but what is the consensus on the Oban colour, light or dark?

    Cheers

    Grey.
This is myself & a good pal, Al Checca, at the Edgehead meet.
So you didn’t like my ideas at all?
I know I forgot to add the website.
No wonder I have grey hair.
Had my first and only Tennent’s (sp?) in Oban.

Sorry Jill, I felt the Oban was too fancy and even more obscured by the Sign Studio, than mine. Still you do some fantastic paint work, I love that.

Thanks for the time spent on it.

    Love the photo, cheers
