  • can anyone recommend a chrome vinyl for vehicles?

Just wondering if anybody can recommend a good chrome vinyl for vehicles.

I have been looking in my swatches and a lot of it seems too be either short term or v. expensive.

    Thanks in advance Stephen

as posted on the other chrome thread !

i use the coburn chrome, it’s a 5yr outdoor film,

i buy it from sign trade supplies, maidstone,

    610 wide…

    1-9m £8.20
    10-24m £7.80
    25m+ 7.57

prices per metre and + vat, it’s called polished silver, but is chrome ! the rainbow chrome is pretty cool too, holographic looking.

Yeah I just found the Hexis one, looks good but does not state outdoor lifespan but says it’s an outdoor durable chrome 😕

if you want 1220 outdoor chrome material, william smith is the only supplier even tho Hexis have it in their catalog they havent any in stock, and at £37 per meter it is expensive!! (tho you can beet em up abit)

Hexis chrome is £19.93 / meter in 1220 wide as per the price list I got from SignUK.

william smith £37 hexis cheaper and 5year to the name, but when I phoned them they said they had none and even argued it wasnt in their catelog! I dont know if they have sorted it now, but they lost my potential sale

hexis do have it but not a stock item, very flexible used on planes, need to push em a bit though, might have a minimum order

    Thanks for the replies

Tried Hexis – not a stock item as stated by Ian.

Went for the Metamark external silver polish vinyl.

What absolute nightmare, I have nothing to compare it with but it scratches and scuffs extremely easy. Even taking the App. tape off made marks on the vinyl.

Customer was happy, but I wasn’t.

    Cheers Stephen

Stepen, just a thought but next time you use it (if you ever do) then maybe it would be worth while laminating it just to help protect the surface if it marks that easily.
