  • Can anyone identify this sign system?

I’m assuming these are readily available, if not if someone can point me in the direction of who could manufacture something like the attached image?

I’m assuming it’s wooden, but could be wrong as I’ve not actually seen the sign, just this photo?

Just bumping this, as I’m still struggling to find a suitable system?

Looks like it could simply be a strip of 10mm pvc (or similar) – not foam, heat bent to form the angle.

Something so simple, I never thought of.

Could be effective if we use some architectural film to make it look more authentic

Get a wire heat bender (or simile name), easy to make these up.

Cheers Hugh will take a look.

What’s the best material to use for this?

I cant see it being plastic as such, it would go brittle and could easily be kicked and snapped. polycarbonate would be much stronger but still…
From the picture, it looks like its something like a 3-4mm folded aluminium with a return to finish the edges.
I would imagine a metal fabrication company could easily make these up.
However, you need to also consider the base. there is probably a fixing plate on the bottom that could be pinned onto a concrete base. I would think there will also be a stabilising leg of some sort at the rear, forming a sort of T-shape, if that makes sense?

Signs like this are a very basic and simple design. but they tend to be very robust as a structure and the coating at a minimum will be powder coated, as well as securely fixed into the ground.

    1/2" stainless steel bent/ curved.

It could be steel Andrew, but due to how "sharp/clean" the bend is, I doubt it is half-inch thick steel.
the one in the picture you linked to stating it is stainless is a bit different and you can see the bend is slightly more curved.

The reason I have said there is a return on the side is that doing that would give the sharper elbow appearance, but also if you look at the top of the sign, you can see the cream edge of the return just creeping above the top.

Doesn’t need to be an exact match the image shown.

I’m surprised there’s no ‘off the shelf’ type system.

I’m guessing it’s fairly simple for a fabricator to manufacture this type of thing, will make some enquiries.

    quote Robert Lambie:

We used to make lots of stuff like this many moons ago using solid PVC – use to be called Darvic. A very tough material and at 10mm thick (or even 6mm thk) would be well up to this application. As Hugh says, all you need is a hot wire bender to form sharp bends such as this. Certainly polycarbonate would be stronger, but at the additional cost we never found any need for it and we’ve never had any come back.
